Nilusha is fast becoming one of Australia’s finest performers. Her passions in life encompass a wide range of art forms which include music and the fine arts.  Nilusha is a graduate of both the School of Music and the School of Art at the Victorian College of the Arts, The University of Melbourne, from where she obtained a Bachelor Degree in Music with Distinction (Improvisation Stream: Voice) and a Bachelor of Fine Art (Printmaking).  While at the School of Music she was also the recipient of the esteemed Mabel Kent Singing Scholarship. 

 

Nilusha’s musical scope incorporates performances as a vocalist, composer and improvisor. Her first rate musicianship has found her taking part in a wide range of artistic activities from jazz to pop, including performances and recordings with Renee Geyer, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Don Burrows, Bob Sedergreen, David Campbell, Shane Howard, Joe Geia, Kenneth Nash (USA), Alex Pertout, Kutcha Edwards and Geoff Achison among many others.

 

As a soloist, Nilusha has been invited to perform the Australian National Anthem at the MCG “Boxing Day Test 2005” and also at Telstra Dome for “Rugby International 2005”. Additionally Nilusha’s own ensembles have performed at many prestigious venues and festivals both nationally and internationally ranging from Hamer Hall, jazz club Bennetts Lane to the Shanghai Exhibition Centre in China.  She has also appeared on various television and variety shows, including the 1st season of  “It Takes Two” on the 7 Network where as part of Chong Lim’s Orchestra she sang backing vocals for Nick Lachey, Glenn Shorrock, Wendy Matthews, Ross Wilson and Guy Sebastian among others.

 

Nilusha has vast studio recording experience gained from original projects, jingles and session singing as well as extensive teaching experience gained from teaching at The Victorian College of the Arts, Secondary Schools, various private singing schools, conducting workshops and from operating a private teaching studio.
